Thankful for Heroes!

One of the benefits of being in the Air Force is that working along side a hero is not an unusual occurrence.  On the eve of Thanksgiving, I thought I would share the story of a hero I had the privilege to work with, and also an organization that I just became aware of that is doing heroic work.

Candice is a Public Affairs Officer that is the best of the best.  She is one of the most well spoken individuals I know, and she exudes calm competence.  But her personal story is what makes her heroic.  She doesn't take no for an answer.  She beat cancer not once but twice, and now is the mother of twins. See her story here:

Now for the heroic organization, The BentProp Project.  I had never heard of them until I caught Anderson Cooper's story on this last weekend on 60 Minutes.  Pat Scannon was diving in Palau and his guides took him to see a semi-submerged prop from a WWII era aircraft.  His desire to find out the circumstances of the crash and the crew members involved, led him to found BentProp, a team of volunteers who are dedicated to finding American POWs and MIAs from WWII in the Western Pacific.  Once they find any sign of remains, they contact the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, service relevant organizations, reunion groups, and families.  You can see the 60 Minutes story below or go HERE:
